BC Hydro’s Customer Build Program
BC Hydro Customer Build Program, was developed to improve service to developers and civil consultants.
Starting in November 2012, developers of residential projects in the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island may retain the services of Customer Build Certified Service Providers such as DMD & Associates Ltd. to deliver turnkey design, project management, material procurement and construction of underground residential distribution (URD) infrastructure for takeover by BC Hydro.

Proven Experience
DMD services are proven to match the fast-paced nature of URD projects and meet tight time schedules. Having worked many URD projects with a high amount of repeat business, DMD understands how to identify and mitigate conflicts with other utilities early in the design process, thus saving the developer’s and civil engineering firm’s time and effort.
DMD has successfully completed projects in every community in the Lower Mainland and South Vancouver Island. As such we fully understand specific city and municipal requirements, including specific utility locations within the right-of way.
Customer Control & Integration
To improve from the existing isolated and uncoordinated process, DMD will integrate this service package into our proven processes for delivering street lighting and traffic signal designs. We will provide coordination at the concept stage and all the way through the design process to provide an integrated design. In addition, we will provide project management services for coordination and control of all shallow utility installations (Hydro, Communications, Gas, Street Lighting, etc.) for your development. We will work closely with the civil design firms to integrate the key elements of the URD and shallow utility designs into the civil design early in the design stage thus reducing design changes, change-orders and wasted effort.
Quality and Timely Project Delivery
As a Certified Service Provider, DMD will use our specific knowledge and skills to handle this responsibility by producing an electrical design that meets the requirements of BC Hydro and all other regulatory bodies and approval agencies. We will coordinate design and installation with other shallow utilities, procure material and facilitate construction of the new services in accordance with your schedule.
