The way we light roads and streets can greatly impact visibility and improve safety. Don McLean presented new and evolving research to the committee focused on improving pedestrian detection distance for drivers. The research undertaken by DMD, WSP (US), VTTI and the US Federal Highway has great benefit in reducing fatalities of vulnerable road users.
