In November 2021, Don McLean of DMD undertook an in-person presentation focused on design methods and research aimed at improving safety for the road users via lighting design. Also reviewed the balance between the safety benefits of lighting and the impacts lighting has on the nighttime environment. Other topics of discussion included CCT along with upcoming changes in IES RP-8 along with new and developing research for sidewalks, crosswalks, and bike lanes along with a discussion on adaptive lighting controls for roadways.
